About the clinic

The South Bucks Hospice Lymphoedema Clinic was opened in January 1997 in response to a need in the community for such a service. The clinic is open Monday to Friday, between 8.30am to 4.30pm. What is Lymphoedema?

Lymphoedema is the swelling that results from accumulated fluid and proteins in the body tissue when the lymphatic vessels or nodes are blocked, removed or damaged. Swelling is most likely to occur in the arms or legs but can affect any part of the body.

Aims of the clinic

To offer specialist knowledge in the treatment of all patients with lymphoedema and other chronic oedemas.

To provide a clear understanding of lymphoedema to patients, carers and healthcare professionals.

To help patients in the management of their condition.

What is the treatment?

The South Bucks Hospice Lymphoedema Clinic offers the four corner stones of care as recognised by the British Lymphology Society. These include skin care, compression, exercise and massage.
