Leave a Gift in your Will
The importance of making a new will
They say that charity begins at home. There is, undeniably, a peace of mind that comes from the knowledge that our loved ones will be provided for after we have gone. An up-to-date will, drawn up with the assistance of a solicitor or will writer, is the best way to be certain that such provisions are made. Without a will you have no control over who benefits from your estate. If you die without having made a will, the law decides how your possessions will be divided. This may not be in the way you would have intended. There may well also be a cause close to one's heart, a service or charitable institution that has supported a friend or family member, or helped when it was needed most.
Inheritance tax?
When making a will, many people find that leaving a gift to charity is one of the most tax effective ways of supporting a charity as all gifts to charity are exempt from Inheritance Tax. It can be frustrating if funds are not readily available to make gifts during one's lifetime, but a legacy can be the greatest gift of all: a gift that supports the future of South Bucks Hospice.
A very private matter?
Your will and your wishes are undoubtedly a very private matter. The South Bucks Hospice doesn't need to know the contents of your will, but if you do want to let us know about your gift, we would obviously welcome the chance to say:
Thank You.
Shouldn't I leave it all to my family?
Helping people care for loved ones is one of the main reasons we exist, so we understand that your will is an opportunity to look after those dear to you. But by choosing to donate some or all of whatever is left after your loved ones are taken care of, it is possible to make a huge difference to the Hospice.
“A small proportion of whatever's left can make a big difference to us”
What would the money be used for?
The desire to provide South Bucks with the level of Hospice care it requires has always been central to the mission of our hospice. A crucial part of this aspiration is a purpose built hospice, something we are currently planning for the area. Our legacy donors are a vital part of making this happen. The gift of a legacy helps us achieve long-term financial stability, allowing us to continue with the care that is vital to so many, and to plan and build for the future, so we can help more people in more ways. Leaving a legacy to the hospice means that people who need our support will get it for generations to come. By remembering the hospice in your will, you are making a gift of hope to those who may need the services of the hospice in the future. This gift will cost you nothing in your lifetime and your legacy will have a lasting effect.
