Helping carers at Pusey House

What happens at the Carers' Meetings?

We recognise that caring for someone with a potentially life changing illness places physical and emotional demands on the family and friends who provide that care.

We carry a range of booklets and leaflets on specific illnesses such as cancer, motor neurone disease, advanced heart or respiratory disease and on aspects of illness such as diet and nutrition, and different treatments. We can also help you to obtain current and reliable information from the Internet.

We are also able to assist you in any questions you may have regarding benefits, social service support etc It can be very helpful to meet and talk with other carers at our regular Carers' Support Group at the Hospice. There is usually a member of staff available. We also arrange for guest speakers on a particular topic as varied as benefits, working with technical aids or adjusting to loss and change, and there may also be an opportunity for carers to learn about and experience the benefits of complementary therapies.
