How do patients get referred to Pusey House?

Patient care at Pusey House

We operate an open referrals system, which means that patients can be referred by families, friends, carers or doctors. In fact, they can refer themselves if they wish. The Hospice is open to everyone - and selection criteria are non-racial and non-denominational. One of our nursing staff will assess the patient to ensure that the hospice is the right environment for their needs.

Introduced in 2010, the hospice now offers care within the community by having volunteer companions visit patients in their homes. This will offer a service to patients, carers and the bereaved who are not able to visit the hospice or need extra support. The service will offer patients a few hours a week to help with basic tasks such as making drinks, collecting prescriptions and will also give the opportunity for the patient to talk to someone outside of their family. This valued service will provide a link between the hospice and the home.
